On Free, everyday chats usually stay on the five included models. If those models get busy, flAim keeps you chatting and only then uses the 250 included credits.
Packs, rollover, and BYOK
Paid plans can buy packs anytime: $5 → 500 credits, $10 → 1,000, $25 → 2,500. Purchased credits last until used. Monthly included credits refill each billing period and do not roll over. Free users who run out should upgrade — packs are not on Free.
BYOK (“Your key”) on paid plans does not spend flAim credits. Those prompts bill your provider. Team canvases use the pooled wallet for managed chats; BYOK still bills the provider account.
When BYOK is cheaper
Rough rule: if you already burn a lot of tokens at one provider, keep a predictable evaluation/prod workload on that API, and only needed a UI, a BYOK frontend can win on raw token price. You still pay the copy-paste tax if the work spans labs and people.
flAim credits buy the workspace (multi-agent room, shared context, share, Chat and Build) plus managed usage. Use BYOK for the long tail or for volume you already negotiate directly. Use credits when you want to start, mix models, or stop maintaining five provider bills for a team that just needed a room.
